Established in 1897 and found in St. Petersburg city of Russia which is also a cultural capital and window to Europe with home of too many Russia’s leading university. First Saint Petersburg State Medical University also known as Saint Petersburg State Medical University I.P. Pavlov was declared an institution of the highest level of accounting and protection enjoying special governmental support. The University was established as Medical Institute for Women’s and was the first medical institution in Russia as well as in Europe where women were given the opportunity to receive a medical degree. In the year 2013, the University got its current name, the First St. Petersburg State Medical University which is named after Academician I.P. Pavlov.

Pavlov has the status of an independent Russian higher education institution and recognized as a big center for training specialists all over the world with SPSMA university being the only higher medical school in the city that has a polyclinic attached to the University. The university has 485 partner universities in 80 countries all over the world.
