The “Victor Babes” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Timisoara was first established in the year 1945 for MBBS study in Romania. Teaching consisted only in lectures during the first three months such as anatomy, chemistry, physiology, lectures that were held in the classrooms and auditorium of the Students’ Union, on King Charles Boulevard the former “Notre Dame” Secondary School.

In October 1945 an important change in the medical educational courses process occurred, when the faculty was given its current residence; the “Banatia” building in the year 1936 that previously belonged to the “Banatia” Foundation of the Catholic Church.

Clinical training started initially in four hospitals, while today students perusing MBBS in Romania are being trained in more than 25 teaching hospitals located in 12 buildings. Since then, more than 25,000 students have graduated including a fair number of foreign students from all over the world from the Timisoara medical school.

The “Victor Babes” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Timisoara has 3 faculties, which have several sub-specializations, the Faculty of Medicine which includes registered nurses, medicine, physiotherapy and recuperation, nutrition and dietetics, radiology and imaging, the Faculty of Dental Medicine which includes dental technique, dental medicine, registered nurses in dentistry, the Faculty of Pharmacy includes pharmacy, pharmaceutical assistants all for the medical students studying MBBS in Romania.

Currently, the “Victor Babes” University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Timisoara, is one of the most prestigious institutions for perusing MBBS in Romania, is also the warrant of further valuable results both in training future generations of pharmacists, physicians or dental surgeons, and in offering medical assistance to the community.
